"Today all I really did was go to Harrods with Lex, but then Bibby whined to come so Carl and her came too. I got a Barbie. I know I said I didn't like them, but somewhere inside me I don't really want to entirely give them up yet. She is really pretty, and she's Moviestar Barbie. I named Her Juliet. I played with her and Katie's Beanies. I'm hiding her from Dad and Joe because I know they'll harass me. Lex didn't get anything, Bibby got a bear. After we all came home Lex and I played 500 until dinner, then they went home and we went to bed. Boring day!"
I've mentioned 500 in quite a few posts now, and I just realized I never explained what it is. 500 is a card game that we became pretty addicted to over that summer. I have pages and pages in my journal of 500 scores between me and all sorts of people. It helped pass the slow times.
Ha! I forgot I bought a Barbie in London! I honestly couldn't tell you why I wanted one. I was obsessed with them when I was younger, and my friend Elizabeth was too. We used to play for hours and hours together with our hundreds of Barbies. I remember telling my mom I had bought her and she about died. I think she hoped I was through that phase... I said, "Mom, I bought something I probably shouldn't have today..." and she said, "a tank top?" Ha! Well, that Barbie was the last one I ever bought. I played with her a few times, and that was it. That little Barbie flare up was short-lived for sure.
